Hi there fellow book lovers!  Welcome to the Hunt!

I’m Kathleen Baldwin, author of the alternative Historical YA series, A School for Unusual Girls, and I’m your hostess for this leg of the YASH scavenger hunt.

Are you ready for some fun?

You are currently hunting on TEAM BLUE.

Look at all these great books!!

YASH is one of my favorite online events
. It tons of fun — like an Easter Egg hunt except your hunting for books. What’s not to love??? Be sure to leave comments along the way. We are all here eagerly watching the game and we love your feedback.
This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes! Not only will you get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt on my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours!

Need more info: Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are SIX contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the BLUE TEAM–but there is also a gold, pink, purple, and red team. Your chance to win a whole different set of books!
For links to all the authors participating and a full list of prizes up for grabs; go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

SCAVENGER HUNT Directions:

  • Hidden in this post, you’ll find my favorite number. HINT: the Greeks called this number the perfect number, I’ve bolded it in Blue.
  • Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the blue team, and add them up.
  • Entry Form: once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.
Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by April 9th, at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.

 SCAVENGER HUNT POST:

I am delighted to be hosting Jennifer Gooch Hummer for the YA Scavenger Hunt! She’s done some fun character casting.
But first let me introduce you to Jennifer Gooch Hummer. She’s the award-winning author and screenwriter for her debut novel, GIRL UNMOORED. Raised in Boston, Jennifer graduated from Kenyon College and moved to Los Angeles where she read scripts for major talent agencies and production companies. A true believer in fairies, Jennifer currently lives in Southern California with her whistling husband, three teenage daughters, and two slightly neurotic rescue dogs.

GIRL UNMOORED:

Apron Bramhall has come unmoored. It’s 1985 and her mom has passed away, her evil stepmother is pregnant, and her best friend has traded her in for a newer model. Fortunately, she’s about to be saved by Jesus. Not that Jesus—the actor who plays him in Jesus Christ, Superstar. Apron is desperate to avoid the look-alike Mike (no one should look that much like Jesus unless they can perform a miracle or two), but suddenly he’s everywhere. Until one day, she’s stuck in church with him—of all places. And then something happens; Apron’s broken teenage heart blinks on for the first time since she’s been adrift.

Mike and his grumpy boyfriend, Chad, offer her a summer job in their flower store, Apron’s world seems to calm. But when she uncovers Chad’s secret, coming of age becomes almost too much to bear. She’s forced to see things the adults around her fail to—like what love really means and who is paying too much for it.

Fan Casting for Girl Unmoored

Apron Bramhall: Landry Bender. Landry is all set to star as Apron Bramhall. I wrote the screenplay with her in mind. She’s adorable and smart and funny, just like Apron. She’ll need a red wig, of course, and she’ll look just as lovely as she does in real life.

Mike Weller: Nicholas Hoult. He was the boy in About a Boy. Have you seen those blue eyes? They’re blueberry eyes, as Apron would say. He’s the perfect Mike.

Chad Weller: Chris Colfer. He can dance and he can sing and he would be the perfect Chad. No one was better in Glee than he, am I right?

M (Margie): Michelle Rodriguez. She was in the Fast and The Furious. Need I say more? She’s probably not scary in real life, but she can definitely act it. (Kathleen here — Oh yes, very versatile actress. I think I’ve probably seen Fast and Furious at least 8 times. Maybe less, maybe more.)

Grandma Bramhall: Shirley MacLaine: I literally love Shirley MacLaine. I factor in a role for her in all of my books. She will go down in history as one of the all-time best actresses.

Dennis Bramhall: Ewan McGregor. When I wrote the book, I had Ewan McGregor in mind as Mike. Now though, I think he’s better suited to play the mercurial Dennis, Apron’s father.

Julie would love to who your dream cast would be!
